Leadership Philosophy
My idea of leadership has not always been so transparent to me. When I was younger, a leader was someone in an obvious position of power. Someone in charge who has authority over others, often the loudest and most extroverted. I never saw myself as a leader because I didn't see myself as these things. I realize now that there is not just one definition of leadership, it is defined many different ways depending on your role. Anyone has the ability to become a leader as you grow into it through experiences in your life. Leadership is about the passion and empowerment of others rather than trying to hold the highest title. You can be a leader no matter where you are.
Leadership is a way in which someones actions align with their values. Leadership leads to personal growth and confidence despite the setbacks you have experienced. I believe that being a strong leader will help you create meaningful relationships and teach you the importance of empathy through hearing other people's stories. When I think of the word leadership I think about vulnerability. Being open and honest with people breaks down barriers and connects people through inclusivity and respect. I know that whatever I end up pursuing in the future will have elements that I will need to act a leader in. You can be a leader no matter who you are.
